Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Shade Trees for Flagstaff AZ
Answered by: Larry Larson
QUESTION:
I live in Flagstaff, AZ and in need of good shade trees all around the house. We live in the Doney Park area (east of Flagstaff) and it is very windy in the spring time. We need the trees for privacy and shade mostly.ANSWER:
Mr Smarty Plants got a little bit lazy on your question as it seems to me this likely has been asked [Shade and Privacy being desirable in Arizona!]. When I searched out other questions that had come in, I found one from Flagstaff and four from the Phoenix area:
