Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Green Pearls or String-of-Pearls plant
Answered by: Nan Hampton
QUESTION:
Years ago I had a plant I called green pearls because that's what it looked like. It was an inside plant. Can you please help me with this? Thank youANSWER:
I did a Google search for "green pearls plant" and this is what I found.
- The scientific name of the plant is Senecio rowleyanus and it is a succulent native to Africa in the Family Asteraceae (Aster Family).
- Its common name is String of Pearls. Here are instructions on its care and more informations from: Succulents and More, Guide-to-Houseplants, JoyusGarden and Plant Rescue.
You can find more internet articles by searching on "string of pearls plant" or "green pearls plant" or "Senecio rowleyanus".
