Native Plants
Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Information on non-native Leopard wort
Answered by: Barbara Medford
QUESTION:
I'm looking for information on the herbaceous perennial, Leopard wort.ANSWER:
According to this Floridata website, Farfugium japonicum, Leopard plant, is native to rocky, coastal cliffs in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, and therefore not in our Native Plant Database. From the Floridata site, however, we did learn that parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested. The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is focused on the care, protection and propagation of plants native not only to North America but the the area in which the plant is being grown.More Non-Natives Questions
