Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Answered by: Barbara Medford
QUESTION:
How far do Bluebonnets throw their seed and what is it called? THANKS!ANSWER:
Sorry, all the information we could find was in this previous answer.
You can also read our How-to article on Bluebonnets and note that the seeds can then be planted wherever you would like to plant them either right away or in the fall following the instructions in the article.
LATE BREAKING NEWS: We have just learned that it is "explosive" dehiscence related to bluebonnets, and they can go as far as 20 feet.
