Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Plants poisonous to dogs from Marion TX
Answered by: Barbara Medford

QUESTION:

Is the desert willow poisonous to dogs?

ANSWER:

We could find no indication in researching Chilopsis linearis (Desert willow) that any parts of it were poisonous. However, we suggest you look at this previous Mr. Smarty Plants answer for some sources you can search, on this and other plants you might be concerned about. Searching on the scientific name (Chilopsis linearis) usually is the most efficient. We checked the poisonous plants on the Texas lists and Desert Willow did not appear.
