Habitat: Open to sun. Nominal moisture. Shallow, alkaline soil over caliche.
Description: Erect perennial to 20 cm, from a woody taproot. Branches many, striate, w/scattered, recurved hairs 1 mm long & many soft hairs 2 mm long. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, serrate, petiolate (to 4 mm), rounded basally, acute apically, to 14 x 30 mm; short hairs on both surfaces, more persistant beneath. Infloresence a terminal, androgynous spike to 16 mm long. Pistillate flowers bracted.
