Abstract
Evaluates the effects of growing Zamia pumila with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and additional phosphorus (P). Adding AMF or P increased dry mass of Z. pumila. This indicates that Z. pumila is not dependent on AMF when sufficient P is available in the soil. However, AMF can promote higher P accumulation. The study also reports on a potentially symbiotic relationship with Nostoc, a cyanobacterium, that may be functionally similar to the AMF, rhizobium, and legume symbiosis.Suggested Citation
