Abstract
Compares the effects of burning, roller chopping, and a combination of the two treatments on the growth of Serenoa repens. In areas where burning has been suppressed, S. repens can become very abundant changing the dynamics of the ecosystem. A single application of burning or roller chopping can be used to maintain low levels of S. repens but not to control high-density areas. Roller chopping in both the dormant and growing season showed the most potential for rapidly controlling saw palmetto, with growing season roller chopping recommended for significant reductions in S. repens.Suggested Citation
