Abstract
Examines adjacent populations of monoecious and dioecious Sagitttaria latifolia in Ontario. It is unusual for plants to have both monoecious (male and female flowers on one plant) and dioecious (male and female flowers on separate plants) populations. Selfing rates were higher in the monoecious population but rates of genetic diversity were similar between the monoecious and dioecious populations. he article concludes that that the maintenance of distinct sexual systems in S. latifolia is governed by interactions between ecology, life history, and mating.Suggested Citation
