Found in wet areas in northeastern North America from North Carolina to Nova Scotia, Juncus caesariensis is classified as endangered in North Carolina, Maryland, and New Jersey and is listed as a species of special concern by SARA (Species at Risk Act) in Canada, where it is found only along the shore of Cape Breton Island.
A member of the family Juncaceae which includes herbs, rarely shrubs, with mostly grass-like leaves, usually in a basal tuft, and small greenish or brownish flower in dense spikes or heads or sometimes in loose clusters or even solitary.
